There's a longer one with more of the story, but this is the essence. TESGO is the designation of one of the waypoints on the Concorde route from CDG to JFK, shortly beyond the point where Concorde goe ssupersonic on its way over the Atlantic. At the occasion of one of the last Air France CDG-JFK flights, a small group of French enthusiasts hired a boat to get a record of the overflight and the sonic bang, and they succeeded beyond expectations. There can't be many Concorde friends, who haven't already seen this clip.... CJ Subjects

This thread deserves an award...
I'm not a professional pilot, just a humble owner of a PPL with a very strong interest in aviation and a long time reader here (esp. in the Tech Log board). I've never posted here, because I prefer to read and learn from those who know it better, but this thread has finally managed to lure me out of lurking mode
If anyone has seen the video of AF landing at BZZ after the first post-grounding test flight, you may have noticed that you can hear the buckets translating to reverse even over the noise of the blustery wind and four Olympus 593's at idle.
YouTube - Concorde late 32 landing at Leeds/Bradford Airport There is a strange high pitch sound that kicks in for about a second in the same moment the nose wheel makes contact with the ground and before the actual reverse thrust sound can be heard. Thanks to all for sharing all this information about one of the most fascinating machines ever created by human mankind. Subjects

Had a chance to go on the BA Concorde, due to the fact that BA certainly realized the allure the Lady had on all pilots, but sadly, my friend who was suppose to join me got sick, so we rescheduled for another flight at a later date. Well, the tragic events of Air France never gave us the chance.
Having spent the last 11 years based JFK, it never got old to see this magnificient bird arrive and I think to a man, or woman, every one always took a moment to look. Anyway, found this video on youtube, one amongst very many, however, she was most photogenic, so not much to argue about there. Brooklands Concorde sim
A small add-on to the earlier posts about the simulators.
Brooklands sim video Brief video, taken yesterday (Oct 9, 2010) of a landing on LHR 27L, with the new three-projector visual display. Also a couple of photosets of the new projectors being installed on the top of the 'cab' and the three overlapping images being aligned. As the photographer (friend of mine) noted , he had to leave before the final tweaks... the borders (overlaps) are now virtually invisible. Post #879 http://www.pprune.org/tech-log/42398...ml#post6129540 - Just guessing now, but Bellerophon were you a Concorde Pilot by any chance.
I read your vivid description and realised that I must have been peeling onions at the same time.
Thank you for that sensational work of art, drawing us a picture of that take off while at the same time making it sound like it was no harder than taking a breath, though I have no doubts this was an extremely complex and demanding proceedure that required a level of crew synergy unknown of at that time. Again, my THANKS for that precious insight into your world.
This in no way excludes all the other contributors to one of the two best threads on this Forum. Gentlemen (and ladies) on this superb thread. I hope this question isn't too "spotterish" but I'm sure it can be answered here. I've learned sooooo much about this gorgeous aircraft reading these pages.
I was listening to this radio dialogue between the last Concorde to leave JFK on Youtube here: YouTube - Last concorde communication with JFK.wmv It's actually a very lovely (well to me it is) almost 7 minutes, with the very final sentences spoken each way - such a nice touch. Just being humble SLF though, I can't work out what "Mike" means in the dialogue i.e. For the last time, Speedbird Concorde 2 IFR London Heathrow with Mike requesting a Canarsie climb. Also ... expect FL290 10 minutes after, Squawk 1136 and Mike is the #### What's Mike and also the #### term? Thanks. CD Subjects

The blue wave looked impressive with the cabin lights off, crap and tacky with them on.

Further to skittles post - if anyone has links to HD footage of concorde at all, I'd love it see it. There are a couple of youtube videos:
YouTube - Concorde Final flight:HD Tranquility Base Razorfish ( Audio 320kb YouTube - Saving Concorde HD But it would be great to see nice HD footage of one of the ladies in flight. One question for the people who designed & worked with her - was there any sort of thrust vectoring - not for any directional controls of course, but perhaps to give extra lift to save drag on the wing when at mach2? Or is that a completely daft idea? Perhaps I'm not explaining what I mean well - what I mean is was the direction of the exhaust gases completely 100% unchanged, or were they directed slightly downwards to generate some lift? Clearly, I have no clue what I'm talking about :-) Subjects

I am ignorant of Concorde operations. I am an aircraft accident investigator, however, after many years of PIC international operations. With respect to the above site, I'd be most grateful if the following points were to be confirmed in regard to AF4590: * A spacer was not installed on the LH undercarriage * The a/c was above its MAUW and outside its C of G limitations * The take off was commenced with a downwind component * The T/O run was commenced over tarmac still under repair * No runway inspection was conducted, as required before any Concorde T/O * No extra protection to fuel tanks had been provided, as had been done by BA * The FE completed engine fire and engine shutdown without consultation with PIC If the above is true, then the accident was unavoidable and I am astounded that the French authorities had the gall (Gaul) to blame Continental Airlines for FOD that should have been detected had the runway inspection been conducted as mandated. Shame! Subjects
