As we've observed in the past, often the most attractive aspects of PPRuNe threads are the digressions.
Similarly to the thoughts of many others, I have been following this thread with great interest. Please do keep up the good work. Subjects: None |

Can we keep on the paths of righteousness please chaps .. lest those who might think the Concorde threads are taking up to much of Tech Log smite us all ...
I appreciate that some of the folks here are very one-eyed in their support of the Grand Lady but let's stay away from the arm waving and non-techo argumentative posts please. Subjects: None |

To the moderators : I guess it's me you referring to with my non-techy posts.
Absolutely NOT the case !! I should have been a bit clearer. What I was concerned about was several posts moving into denigration of organisations. The reference to non-techo probably would have better been expressed as, say, non-directly-Concorde relevant posts ? I won't be posting on here again Please stay with us - your comments balance the shop front views of life and are valued - really they are. Subjects: None |

That's why those two small planks on Concorde work so well.
Quite a common trick of the trade eg with fighters eg the leading edge extension (LEX - the narrow aspect delta at the front of the wing) on the F18 and others. There are plenty of pix around with the vortex made visual due humidity and it can be seen to be tight, curly and designed nicely to interact with the fins - which, for the F18 has caused much in the way of fatigue related grey hairs in the boffin fraternity. and especially it's used in moving the CofG. again, a common observation eg 747-400 tail tanks .. just a matter of how much the movement is required to be. The thread hasn't been deleted. I have moved it to an internal review place for comment from those higher up the totem pole. It may or may not return depending on the outcome.
Can I suggest that we let the other subject sit for a while ? Subjects: None |

No point asking Clive .. he's an aerodynamicist and, hence, only talks in slugs/cubic foot.

engineers live their lives in an atmosphere of mutual jovial insult
Indeed, good sir. Having been exposed throughout a lifetime to various disciplines, including aerodynamics (djpil and I shared adjoining desks under AW's watchful glare in an earlier life at the Bend), I invariably upset various parties from time to time when I line select and execute the wrong set of social mores for the company in question. Oh well, it's been anything but a boring life. Subjects: None |

Alas, the moderators will likely delete both your message and mine.
This mod errs on the side of leaving things alone .. unless they be quite out of order. a slightly younger Tartare heard the unearthly roar of 4 Olympuses June 72 we first saw the bird in Oz. I was a UniSyd final year engineering undergrad at the time. The lot of us nicked off from lectures that day to watch the departure .. forget how it was organised but we stood about where the 16 GP antenna is located now in front of the international terminal construction work. The bird's takeoff was to the south (our left to right) .. lots of mach diamonds and the visceral excitation was not at all comfortable ... but, what a hoot. The aerodynamics lecturer - one of whose lectures we absented ourselves from - opined at the start of the next lecture that we should study independently for the finals in his subject and walked out ... nice chap but a rabid greenie and more than a tad anti-Concorde. C'est la vie ... vague memory suggests I think I scored an HD for the subject and we all passed anyway .. the power of fearful heads in the textbooks in the absence of lectures in a subject.
